OAC - Mo.net
General description of system
Mo.net is a fully featured financial modelling system designed primarily for use within insurance companies for life, pensions and health applications, but is flexible enough to be used for any financial modelling tasks. Mo.net is a new product which was introduced in 2005. Out of the box, Mo.net is a development tool for clients to build their own models, or to purchase models, or have them built for them by external consultants.
Functions performed
Mo.net is a platform for developing models so can be used for many purposes, but currently clients are using it for:
- Pricing
- Embedded valuation (incl. EEV/MCEV)
- Regulatory valuation
- Realistic balance-sheet reporting
- ICAs
- Solvency II
- Product illustrations
- Business planning
- Stochastic calculations
Specific Solvency II features
Mo.net has a unique hierarchical model structure that enables Solvency II structures to be built on top of existing liability models. The flexibility of the architecture allows the full set of Solvency II calculations to be performed within the system in a single "run".
Specifications
Mo.net is a Windows desktop application which can also be installed on a server. It has a minimal IT footprint and fully integrates with existing IT systems.
Licensing/sales/support
Mo.net licensing has a simple annual fee structure including future upgrades and some support. Training is available on request. Consulting relationships are not a requirement of software purchase.
Types of user
Mo.net model development is usually conducted by actuarial personnel but model running can be performed by any suitable individual. Mo.net is currently used by a range of companies from large international financial firms to small departments within companies and individual consultancies.
Areas/countries with the most users
Mo.net users are spread across the world but the majority are currently located in the UK.
