Speakers confirmed for global ERM webinar

The global actuarial profession has confirmed the speakers for this year's global ERM webinar on 1 December.

The speaker line-up and the topics they will discuss are as follows:

  • Value creation vs. systemic risk: Panel Discussion: Tom Wilson, group CRO, Allianz SE; Seamus Creedon, Groupe Consultatif; and Kathryn Morgan, CEIOPS will debate a selection of topics concerned with the trade-off between value creation and avoiding systemic risk
  • Approaches to ERM and capital models: Andrew Hitchcox, CRO, Kiln and Frank Cuypers, European Actuarial Association, will discuss approaches to embedding internal models into a holistic risk management framework.
  • Economic capital models: John Hibbert, director and founder, Barrie & Hibbert, will discuss estimating liquidity premiums and John Brunello, head of models, Eurizon Vita, will discuss the optimal design of internal model software
  • Governance, strategic risk and operational risk: Esko Kivisaari, deputy head, Finnish Federation of Financial Institutions, will discuss the lessons learnt from the Scandinavian banking crisis in the 1990's, how well they worked when tested in 2008 and what lessons can be learned for Solvency II. One more speaker will be confirmed later.

The webinar will be run as a five hour online event. The event will be recorded so delegates can replay the webinar later. Parallel events will be run in the Americas and Asia before and after the European event with speakers from the respective regions.

The sessions will be aimed at ERM-oriented professionals, actuaries, and anyone working in insurance and interested in how the industry will deal with the challenges and opportunities of ERM and Solvency II.
