Axa UK & Ireland has created a new general insurance business, Axa Insurance UK, by bringing together its UK commercial and retail business units beneath a "single leadership structure".
Rebecca McLean will take on the role of risk, conduct and governance director of the new division, effective from 1 April, and will report to Axa Insurance UK CEO Jon Walker. McLean has worked at Axa for three years as risk director, and before that was interim head of risk at Phoenix Group.
As Axa UK's chief risk officer (CRO) for nearly nine years, Camilla Bennett will be CRO for Axa Insurance UK.
The insurer has also appointed Julie Barbey and Mike Crane as managing directors for retail and commercial, respectively, who will both report to Walker.
Walker said: "Creating a unified general insurance business gives us greater scale, sharper focus and the ability to respond more effectively to changing market dynamics."
