In a hot field and a rapidly expanding and maturing sector, CyberCube has been highly commended in the 2026 InsuranceERM Americas awards for the best use of AI in risk management.
CyberCube exists in a world in which risk in this area is constantly changing and evolving. It supports 130 organisations globally, including 75% of the top 40 US and European cyber insurers, while picking up $180m in growth investment.
The firm aims to show how AI can deliver measurable value in insurance risk management through embedding machine learning, natural language processing, and AI-powered intelligence into insurers' underwriting, portfolio management and catastrophe modelling workflows.
There is a great need for companies to undertake these types of functions: CyberCube's underwriting models have shown that insureds in the lowest risk decile are 15 times more likely to suffer a cyber event than those in the highest decile. And further research suggests that 12% of critical US firms in a representative portfolio face the highest risk from Iranian cyber actors. Knowing this helps insurers respond proactively to geopolitical risk.
The speed and rate of attacks is only set to increase: the firm's April 2026 report AI Risk Landscape: Implications for Cyber (Re)insurance highlighted that AI is increasing the speed, scale, and coordination of attacks by reducing the time between compromise and operational disruption.
