Praedicat is a latency risk data and modeling company. Founded in 2012, the company is a spin-off of the RAND Corporation and catastrophe modeling firm Risk Management Solutions (RMS). As an emerging risk tool, Praedicat's text mining technologies identify scientific support for potential litigation when the earliest papers are published. With clearly specified harms and exposed populations identified from peer-reviewed journals, Praedicat estimates severity of the risk and size of the claimant population. Praedicat has developed a probabilistic model that uses empirical predictions of the future state of the science to create a science-based prospective litigation event set, which can then be used to quantify portfolio & individual insurance policy loss estimates. The data and models are used for underwriting, risk management, and the new product development by multiple global insurers and reinsurers. Global industrial companies also use the analytics for best in class product stewardship and risk management.
