Oak Global has launched a technology company, ROOT Intelligence, that will act as a “catalyst for technology change over the long term”.
The London-based underwriting and reinsurance group said ROOT Intelligence will build tools to enhance technology-enabled risk insight, future-proof data foundations and simplify operations.
ROOT Intelligence will also deliver OCEAN (OAK Capital, Exposure and Analytics Network), a risk orchestration platform that aims to “leverage current and future advancements” in AI.
Oak Global said ROOT Intelligence will use Amazon Web Services to provide access to AI, data and cloud capabilities, along with expertise on emerging technologies.
The team will be led by Gerard DeVere as head of platform, based in Dublin, while Oliver Mapp and Alex Stephenson will become head of data science and innovation and head of business technology, respectively, in London.
In March, InsuranceERM reported that Oak Global established Oak Horizon, a business unit focused on underwriting climate and technology risk solutions.
