Three underwriters and an asset manager will discuss illiquid asset classes, spanning from infrastructure to debt and private equity, loans and property.

Such classes often offer superior returns than more traditional investments that insurers buy, but they bring risks as well.

As insurers seek them nonetheless, panellists will discuss what they want to buy, what risks they are mindful of, the question of availability and sourcing them, whether asset pools in Asia, or elsewhere are preferred, and whether the "illiquidity premium" is all that is seems.

The panel will also discuss whether Beijing’s Belt & Road initiative will open up the door to more illiquid investments – and whether the underwriters are interested in buying in.
